Prevalence of PTSD in both men and women?

Many studies have been conducted on the symptoms and values of PTSD in both men and women, with very different results. It was clear that 10% of women developed PTSD after a traumatic event, while only 4% of men reported PTSD after a traumatic event. These figures may be due to social acceptance or tolerance in expressing women's feelings. In our society, It is not acceptable for men to express their feelings.

However, several other studies were conducted to discover this fact, one of which was by American Experimental Studies. Supporting the data shows that 5 out of 5 women suffer from PTSD, while only two out of 10 men develop PTSD after a traumatic event. Although some of the symptoms of PTSD, such as relapses, dizziness, constipation and hyperbole, are similar in both men and women, women have many other symptoms that have been very different from men.

How does the risk of violence between men and women differ?

Extensive mental health research shows that both men and women are experiencing a wide variety of traumatic events. Men often experience physical trauma such as war or accidents. Women, on the other hand, experience emotional and physical abuse such as sexual abuse or childhood abuse. Cases of sexual harassment are much higher for women than for men.

How are symptoms different from women than men?

Studies show that women are more likely to be sexually abused than men. There is evidence that women were injured during the incident, which continued to withdraw from the air. Due to PTSD, women show signs of depression, fear, spiritual numbness and avoid situations, objects or people that remind them of trauma. Men, on the other hand, express their PTSD with uncontrolled anger, irritability and sensitivity to drugs, alcohol or other substances.

However, women do not receive adequate social support after trauma and experience significant emotional trauma during the incident. It is the result of chronic symptoms of PTSD. These women then become addicted to drugs or alcohol to suppress their emotions. One research study showed that women had symptoms of PTSD longer than men. Women can have PTSD permanently for up to four years, while men are more likely to suffer from PTSD for one year.

However, men and women can have physical health problems due to PTSD.

Research into the LGBTQ community also shows that they develop PTSD due to the problem of gender identity, social isolation and stigma. Many of the crimes, violence and abuse reported in the LGBTQ community often put them at greater risk for PTSD.

Women in the military are at greater risk of emotional trauma, especially during wartime. Although men are more likely to be involved in combat, the number of women victims of war is also increasing. Also, women in the military are more likely to be sexually abused or abused than men. More research is needed to better understand the effects of hostility and sexual violence on women than the chronic symptoms of PTSD.

What are the challenges during treatment for PTSD?

A lot of good treatment options are available for PTSD, including medication and psychotherapy. However, not all people with PTSD need treatment. Studies show that women need more help than men after traumatic events. At least one study shows that women respond to PTSD treatment in the same way or better than men. This is because women are more comfortable than men by sharing their emotional trauma or experience.
